This little pupper's moveset allows it to perform in a manner similar to pets like Rotten Little Helper and Frigid Frostling, but with one noticable distinction: its favorable Speed and Frost Shock allows Snowfang to outpace nearly any opponent while doling out some impressive damage.
Snowfang could also prove very favorable against Undead pets!
Legion introduced a slew of owls to bolster the preexisting Flying pets with Call Darkness and Nocturnal Strike. The Fledgling Warden Owl is the most difficult to acquire and (Appropriately) the most desirable for its P/P breed. While not as versatile, this allows the Fledgling Warden Owl to act as a substitute to the Dread Hatchling, which became unavailable with the release of Legion.
Even if you already have a S/S Crow, this pet is worth looking into.
Essentially a Thundertail Flapper from the Isle of Thunder -- but with some noticeable differences. Unlike any beaver, it has a VERY nice breed (P/P) and a unique, flavorful ability called Discharge.
Those two things alone make it a very special pet. I used it for a little while in Battle Pets PvP (Tail Slap + Lightning Shield + Discharge) and had some pleasant results with my Aquatic team!
This pet is absolutely phenomenal. I use it quite regularly as part of a Sunlight team along with a Soul of the Aspects and Zao, Calfling of Niuzao. But it does have exploitable weaknesses, as all pets in a Sunlight team tend to.
Forced swapping, frequent weather changes, and consistent Aquatic damage are the banes of this pet. Do not use a snail if you intend to use Aquatic damage, as the cooldown on Dive is too long to harass the Ancient consistently.
This pet. Oh boy, this little guy is my new love. Two totally viable builds:
Claw/Breath + Deflection + Surge of Light
Claw/Breath + Sunlight + Solar Beam
The former synergizes beautifully with Darkness teams and the latter with Sunlight teams, which is my predominant use for this pet. Being a Dragonkin with Solar Beam is nothing to scoff at. It shines more in Pet Battle PvP than in PvE, but with the right kind of team play, it can change an entire battle in just a few turns.
My opinion on Zao: it's a lovely Beast pet, but lackluster relative to Xu-Fu. I would take Xu-Fu much sooner over Zao. In fact, I think Zao was the last Celestial Tournament pet I obtained.
But where Xu-Fu is a great pet all its own, I think Zao's strengths reside in team play through PvP Pet Battles. Zao makes a phenomenal damage/support pet in Sunlight teams using Trample + Wish + Niuzao's Charge -- it's becoming a new favorite of mine.
My P/P Sky-Bo almost singlehandledly DESTROYED Dr. Ion Goldbloom's team in the Celestial Tournament using Screeching Gears, Reboot, and Launch. I started with a S/S Nordrassil Wisp and switched in my Sky-Bo the moment Screamer used Feign Death and dragged in Trike. Screeching Gears stunned the entire team across multiple turns and Launch... Just wow. This pet is an underrated masterpiece.
Update: As of 7.0.3, this little guy is merely average. It just can't put out damage.
Effectively a cageable Kun-Lai Runt -- albeit with some minor differences. The Grumpling lacks Takedown and its subsequent syngergy with Deep Freeze, but compensates with the addition of an Elemental primary attack to function better against Mechanicals. It also lacks the Runt's powerful Beast abilities in exchange for Gift of Winter's Veil.
All in all, it's a really nice Battle Pet. A P/P Grumpling would fit nicely even on a roster that already has a Runt.
Vastly underrated and by far the most useful pet of its skillset. The P/P breed is more likely to be useful than the speed-oriented breeds of foxes with its moveset since it already has two abilities to bolster its speed. With the exception of rabbits, it is very rare that you will ever encounter a pet that can outrun the Worg Pup with Dazzling Dance -- and especially not with Leap.
Especially in the case of Undead pets. Of all pets, they are among the slowest.
As someone who mains a draenei paladin, I will say that -- in spite of the fact that it can't battle -- this is one of the coolest companions Blizzard into the game. A naaru! Your own little naaru!
Props to the developers who made K'ute. Draenei rejoice! :)
The breed you'd want for this pet might depend on what moveset you really want the little guy for. There's two combinations that really stand out:
Stampede - Tough n' Cuddly - Rampage
Stampede - Rend or Tough n' Cuddly - Flurry
P/P would work best for the former (Beast-leaning) while S/S or P/S would probably work better for the latter (Critter-leaning). Either way, this little guy looks fierce! Got one from Erris today and I can't wait to see what he can do. :)
If you are using (Or planning to use) Stinker solely for the purpose of team healing, you may want to look into obtaining a Frostwolf Ghostpup instead. It has the same stat allotment, but Haunting Song has higher values than Bleat with the same cooldown.
Also, its little howl is just heartbreakingly cute. :)
People are right in saying this beast is one of the most underrated Critters around. It can dodge massive attacks or turn Undead rounds negligible with its Cocoon Strike and provide MASSIVE self-heals every three turns. Not to mention its primary attack is consistent and packs a huge punch.
It's one of my go-tos for fighting Eleanor and Lil' Stitches.
One of the first heavy-hitters for the Magic family with a breed that takes full advantage of its family's passive -- and the only other dangerous pets of its kind I can think of off the top of my head are the Ethereal Soul-Trader and the Jade Oozeling.
Until now, the only pets with Magic abilities I found myself using happened to be Dragonkin, and only rarely would I pull out the Soul-Trader. But the Servant of Demidos hits like a truck. Definitely a worthy investment.
When I close my eyes at night, I see this pet being grouped with an Electrified Razortooth and some kind of squirrel.
I always wake up with soiled pants and a little bit of vomit in my mouth.
It hurts.
Breath/Emerald Bite + Emerald Presence + Emerald Dream
This is the set-up that makes the P/P Emerald Proto-Whelp a force to be reckoned with. It is excellent against Magic Pets and the Scourge of Flying Pets everywhere. There is not a single Flying Pet out there the Emerald Proto-Whelp is incapable of devouring without a second thought, and any pet that has smaller, multi-hit abilities like Stampede should just give up outright.
This little guy was one of my first pets. He isn't entirely necessary once you find more aggressive counters to Undead or Elementals, and he sees a lot less action now, but I wouldn't be where I am without my Magical Crawdad, Jacques. There is no enemy too terrible for the Crawdad to face down.
Also, having this pet in your team effectively renders your enemy's Unborn Val'kyr (And a wide variety of other Undead pets) utterly and completely useless.
The Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling was already ungodly ridiculous, so when the buffs to Thunderbolt came with 6.0, it just about became the new Unborn Val'kyr. You need a pet that can force multiple attacks (Stampede, Banana Barrage, etc.), team heal, or deal heavy Elemental damage if you want to have any hope of taking this little guy down.
Xu-Fu is basically the reason why moves like Dodge or Clobber exist.
He is one of my go-to PvP Pets, and if I see the enemy team doesn't have a single pet capable of stalling or controlling the battle to neutralize him, I will send out Xu-Fu and -- like a harbinger of death -- he WILL take out the very first pet he comes into contact with.
This little guy telegraphs his attacks and can be very easy to stop with the right pets, but he utterly devours the unprepared.
The P/P Nexus Whelpling is absolutely destructive in PvP. If your enemy doesn't have a Mechanical Pet, even after Mana Surge's damage was toned down, the Nexus Whelpling will put out an insane amount of pressure and (More often than not) kill something.
I get prepared to feel the hurt whenever I see this pet in an enemy team, and it's not too uncommon to see some people running three of these at once.
I feel like this pet would be rated much higher if it weren't so taxing (Or expensive) to obtain. The P/P Spineclaw Crab can decimate Elementals with its ridiculous Blood in the Water and heal for nearly 600 Health with Healing Wave. It is easily capable of soloing Farmer Nishi's entire team and is my go-to hard counter against Elementals in PvP.
For the love of all that is good and holy, don't buy this pet. It shouldn't cost the thousands of gold it does on the AH when it has a very decent chance of appearing as an Archaeology solve and can be obtained the moment you learn Archaeology.
Some additional information: the Ghostpup, like all rare artifact projects, can be obtained only once per character (Not once per account) and this pet boasts an excellent breed with a skillset diverse enough to fit very well in many teams!
