You could already do that with /randompet or /randomfavoritepet. All this does is save you creating a macro button for it. Still, nice for those who didn't know about those commands. :)
Farming for weeks and weeks on a class/spec you don't even want to play is just an unreasonable and ridiculous grind. Definitely won't be getting the DK or monk pets, sadly.
It doesn't show in the journal or on the picture here, but he also has a load of bones and a skull hanging from the banner poles. A very cool-looking pet.
It doesn't show in the journal or on the picture here, but as well as carrying a pickaxe this guy also wears a miner's hat.
The island is tiny, and heavily populated with elites. Pet comes in multiple rarities but only one breed (B/B), so you might find it easier to grab one then rare stone it, rather than trying to catch one that's already rare.
Not sure why they felt the need to change their appearance, they looked great before. :(
This pet goes straight into the journal when earned, so make sure you have room for him. I foolishly interacted with the orphaned hatchling while I had 1000 pets in my journal; got quest credit but received no pet. Had to submit a ticket and get a GM to award the pet to me.
Not sure he counts as a beetle, I think that's just the way Apocalypse works. If the pet that cast it isn't alive and active when the timer runs out, it will just miss.
I really love this pet though - especially to accompany my gnome characters. It looks great, and has cute puppy-like idle animations. It must also be one of the very few pets that aren't reskins of another npc, and the only one I can think of that doesn't come from the Blizz store.
Blizzard is unable to "tune" anything these days. Instead of the old method of slight tweaks and extensive testing, they now make massive sweeping changes, nerf or remove things that have been fine for years, and generally act like they don't think anything through.

Phew, that's a relief. ;)
I thought epic pets were a terrible idea two years ago, and nothing has changed my mind. Especially at 200 charms per stone - what the hell?
Hah. Bodhi Sunwayver = Patrick Swayze (Bodhi was his character in Point Break). :D
That archaeology pet looks cool too. Wonder if it's based on the Graves model - looks a bit like him.
Another valkyr is cool I guess, and another abomination. I know it's early days still, but has anything been revealed yet that actually has a new model, and isn't just a recolour?
Also a little surprised at the Murkidan clone - would go against their precedent regarding murloc pets.
I'm sure there will be lots of actual new pets to come - fingers crossed anyway. :)
Likier - not everybody in the world (or on this site) is Christian. These holidays are also the time for some other celebrations, both religious and secular. :)
Happy Holidays everyone, and a pet-tastic New year!
Love these write-ups. How do you decide which pet to feature next, do you take requests? If so, I would like to nominate my favourite mechanical pet - Stonegrinder! :)
Oh man, doesn't he just look like the coolest murloc yet?!
I wonder if "murkmorphosis" will actually turn him into a murloc demon...
New rare pets - quite cool. New rare pets using mega-common skins - not so cool...
Somebody sent me a Blood Boil pet! I logged on to my mage after about a week off, and found it in the mailbox along with a note saying thanks for giving them a portal. Unfortunately I was mass-opening mail and by the time I realised what it was, I had deleted the message. So if you read this, thank you!
