Great pet to start you off on your way. He is worth the effort in archaeology for a new pet battler. First pet I ever leveled to 25. He led the way for me on Outland. Him plus an H/H Clefthoof and Clockwork Gnome opened up the daily quests for me. I named him Holmes. Still one of my favorite pets.

Great battle pet and a great money maker for Engineers. If you can mine the metal yourself then you can get the Elemental Air and Elemental Earth in the same zone in Arathi highlands and the Globe of Water in Swamp of sorrows. The only thing I need to buy is the Cured Rugged Hide. These pets go for 400+ on the auction. 

The chickens are surprisingly good battlers, I named mine Hotwings.

Create some Gnome newbs on different servers like is mentioned in these comments. Your collections are tied to your account so server doesn't matter. I found the most of them on low pop PVP servers. After trying for about 3-4 days to find a rare I log on one morning and they were everywhere must have been a dozen spawned up both inside and outside the Gnomergan area. Found two rares , I found both the 5/15 and the 8/18 so I'm leveling up both to see which one I like.

My breed addon lists several different ones available for this pet, I've bought a few and they are all 5/15 has anyone seen a different breed for it. 

Simple is sometimes good and this guy is just a simple butt whipper. Has +damage abilities vs 6 of the 10 families and none have a cooldown. Just click and smack, wash rinse repeat. 

Finally found a rare after camping the Dry Hills area in North Barrens for over a week. I just logged an alt off there and checked it several times a day. Was ready to give up and move the char to somewhere else and camp something different then there it was at 14:00 server time. This was literally going to be my last check of the area so I guess it was fate that I got one. Was so happy I yelled out loud. 

Very effective battle pet.

He will become one of your favorite pets to summon and follow you around in town. I love his personality as a vanity pet (amusing karate kicks with vocals) as well as his effectiveness as a battle pet. If you are into this part of the game he is worth the purchase. Not only a designated Dragon killer but a real attention getter since everyone that runs by wants to stop and look at him. Fun little addition to the game.

I love this little guy, throw down a mine field when you are about to finish off an enemy and the next one coming in is going to be a beast pet, he will hit the minefield upon entering. Boooom you can sometimes kill them in one shot before they even get started.  Very effective pet if used correctly. 

This game never ceases to amaze me, I spent nearly 2 hours the other night leveling up pets in Stonetalon and searching for a rare 5000 only to go away completely empty handed. Tonight I've seen 3 rares already in maybe 15 battles.  Glad I can finally stop searching for this one I prefer Duskwood for level 5-7 battles.

Difficult pet to level since he has no heal, and so many skills are strong vs undead, he is basically a little mage and is useful to start out the fight because once you level him up to 10 he can apply 2 dots and then switch out. His debuff remover is great so that he can't get stuck on the battlefield by a cage spell. 

I have had such bad luck on the Crawdad and Flying Dino pet that I guess this guy was my payback. Wasn't even looking for him and looted him in Silithus while doing a "kill 10 worms" quest. Awesome little pet. Bout time I had some good luck in this game for a change.
