Happy New Year, even if it is a bit belated! Sorry for the lack of news lately, but there just hasn't been much pet-related news to report. Hopefully that will change with the upcoming patch. As we mentioned before, one of the changes slated for Patch 3.0.8 is that the Pledge of Adoration from which Peddlefeet is obtained will become bind-on-pickup. As a result, the Peddlefeet Farming Guide is now obsolete and has been removed from the site.
NEW GUIDE! Fret not, for in its place we have published a Kirin Tor Familiar Guide. This pet is arguably one of the most difficult ones to collect. But with the help of this guide, a lot of patience, and a little luck, anyone who wants to get the Kirin Tor Familar should be able to do so. Good luck!

Pet Achievement News from the PTR
January 09, 2009
We have some good news from the PTR! The new achievement, Lil' Game Hunter, which will be added in Patch 3.0.8, now only requires players to collect 75 pets, instead of the originally reported 100. The reward, [Little Fawn's Salt Lick], summons an adorable baby deer. Those of you who loved having your own temporary Bambi (thanks to Critter Bites) can now rejoice for your new "forever fawn"! This leaves the 100-pet achievement reward open for some other to-be-determined pet. *coughs* orangemurlocplease
Also, as mentioned in previous posts, Peddlefeet will be harder to obtain during this year's Love is in the Air event because the Pledges of Adoration that yield him will be bind-on-pickup. However, the requirement of obtaining Peddlefeet for the Fool For Love achievement has been removed. I'm sure this is very welcome news to those of you trying for the achievement What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been (not to mention its sweet Violet Proto-Drake reward)!

EU Players: Win a Gurky!
January 13, 2009
EU pet collectors rejoice! WoW Europe has announced a Valentine Contest where prize winners will receive their very own Gurky baby murloc pet! So if you play on an EU server, here's what you need to know:
To participate in the Valentine Card Contest, simply design a Valentine Card showing your love for World of Warcraft. You can use screenshots, original fan art; anything that combines love and World of Warcraft! The contest will run from January 12, 2009 until February 1, 2009. Entries are limited to five (5) per household.
To submit your entry, visit the WoW Europe Contest Submission page. I know I speak for all of us non-EU pet enthusiasts when I say "We are sooooo jealous!" Still, we wish everyone who enters the contest loads of luck—make us proud here at WarcraftPets and bring home a Gurky!

Vampire Hunter Feat of Strength
January 19, 2009
Currently on the PTR is a new Feat of Strength called Vampire Hunter. This achievement will be unlocked for everyone who "slew Prince Tenris Mirkblood and acquired his Vampiric Batling pet." Unfortunately, this pretty much puts the last nail in the coffin of anyone who missed getting this pet and was holding out hope that it might be reobtainable in the future.

A Friend to Fawn Over
January 20, 2009
NEW Pet! Patch 3.0.8 is finally here, and with it comes a new pet, Little Fawn. The new achievement Lil' Game Hunter rewards this deer companion to players who have collected 75 unique pets. After completing the achievement, players will receive [Little Fawn's Salt Lick] in the mail from none other than our very own Breanni! In her letter, Breanni writes that the little fawn is shy, but that you can easily gain her friendship. There goes my plan of calling mine The Fonz!
In other patch news, apparently our little friend Frosty is now just that... little, or at least littler than his former self. I guess he just wanted to fit in with all the other whelps. We'll always love you, Frosty, no matter what your size!

Love Stinks
January 26, 2009
The J. Geils Band hit the nail on the head when they sang "Love Stinks", especially if you're a lovesick little skunk by the name of Stinker. In Patch 3.0.8, Blizzard finally made good on their promise to add something special for Stinker (see Breanni Goes to Blizzcon). When Stinker sees a Black Tabby Cat or a Bombay Cat, he becomes infatuated and begins chasing the unsuspecting feline around. This should come as no surprise, for Breanni warns in her letter that Stinker "has a thing for black cats."
Sporting a big heart over his head and leaving a trail of small hearts behind, the spunky skunk is relentless in his literal pursuit of love. Alas, poor Stinker's affections go unrequited. He eventually gives up the chase with a broken heart. However, he will eagerly begin the whole routine anew after returning to his owner, if the seductive black feline is still there to tempt him!
