4.3 PTR: Darkmoon Faire Preview

November 06, 2011
The revamped Darkmoon Faire has come to town on the 4.3 PTR, and we have previews of the new Darkmoon pets plus a special peak at a possible friend for the Purple Puffer!

Step Right Up!
New Darkmoon Faire pets
There are a total of 6 new Darkmoon Faire mini-pets:

  • Darkmoon Cub (pictured)
  • Darkmoon Turtle (pictured)
  • Darkmoon Monkey (pictured)
  • Darkmoon Balloon
  • Darkmoon Tonk
  • Darkmoon Zeppelin

Each of these pets can be purchased from a vendor named Lhara at the new Darkmoon Island fairgrounds for 90 Darkmoon Prize Tickets each. The pets are Bind on Pick Up and do not require any reputation to purchase.

Tickets can be earned by completing Darkmoon Faire game dailies, profession based quests, and finding rare Darkmoon Artifacts in level appropriate battlegrounds, dungeons, and raids. Old tickets earned prior to patch 4.3 cannot be used to purchase the companions.

Temporary Balloon Pets
It may take more than one week to purchase all the new Darkmoon pets, but if you'd like to have a fun and festive companion sooner rather than later, there are three temporary balloon "pets" that cost 9 silver each. The catch is that these three balloons are not true vanity pets, and the items require the Darkmoon Faire to be in town.

Frogs Found
There are many new mini-pets to buy from the faire and a whole new zone designed just for the event, but old time favorites will still be available. Flik, who sells the Tree Frog and the Wood Frog, as well as Morja (starts the quest that rewards the Jubling) can still be found wandering around the fairgrounds.

A Fishy Friend
In addition to the Darkmoon Faire companions, the Darkmoon Island has a more obscure companion to offer. Our good friend El from El's Extreme Anglin' has confirmed the existence of the Sea Pony pet.

This aquatic pet can be fished from open-water on the coasts of the Darkmoon Island, but don't worry if your skill isn't very high. According to El, the waters around the Darkmoon Island only require a fishing skill level of 75 (for no-junk catches). Get your fishing gear ready for this Giant Sewer Rat version 2.0!
