To begin the journey to unlocking the vendor that sells this pet, players must have completed the level 80 quest chain for Mount Hyjal up to and including Aessina's Miracle. After doing so, new quest hubs as well as a new quest line will open up.
Players will need to gather a total of 445 Marks of the World Tree through quests and dailies in the new Mount Hyjal and Molten Front questing hubs. Of those 445 marks, players will need 125 of them to complete Calling the Ancients.
Check out our Community Guide: Unlocking the Mount Hyjal Vendors for more information.
This companion was first featured as a NPC in a quest called The Bears Up There. The same quest becomes a daily that is unlocked during the new level 85 Mount Hyjal story line.
This pet is my favorite for leveling other pets. You can take him to Valley of Four Winds and then just have a super low (lowest I took was level 3) pet do one round then switch out and have this guy solo all 3 pets. He usually comes out almost fully healed so you don't have to stop to heal him. Makes pet leveling super easy. He does super well against critters (which are mostly what's in Valley of Four Winds) and he does very well against aquatic. He's even good against fliers.
@Jesjbrown He can't learn it because he does not have a pet of equal or higher level to that pet.
Slowest(244) but healthiest(1562) Bear available. In my opinion 244 speed makes this pet just too risky compared to the other bears. Also the health difference is not very much, but 260 speed vs 244 makes all the difference. Look at the other bears if you want to PvP.
Is this pet cageable? My husband was gifted one, but it says "can't bind to account" when he tries to learn it.
An amazingly strong pet with a heal cycle. Easy to solo pets over his level. I will be up voting this guy.
That quest in Hyjal to chuck the bear cubs stuck in the tree onto the tampoline was the funniest darn thing I ever saw. What a cute little reminder to follow you around! Also, I really like this pet model much better than the one used for the Darkshore and Dun Morogh cubs.
