Patch 5.0.1 | Posted: September 25, 2012
Can be found around Golakka Hot Springs, near Elder Diemetradons.
Diemetradons abandon their hatchlings in Un'Goro Crater to fend for themselves. Only the strongest survive.
P/P breeds of these are extremely strong. I find the best setup overall to be Quick Attack, Triple Snap, and Comeback, though all of the moves this pet has are viable (except maybe Screech). I stoned/trained up a team of 3 of these as P/P and yeah, just a very strong and underrated pet.
This pet is so underrated. When was leveling P/P breed I suddenly realised how powerful this fellow is. With its Claw/Triple Snap for pure dps and Ravage for healing purposes he became a critters killing machine ;). Stoned him to rare with no hassle and, atm, he is my go to while battling wild pets. Absolutely outstanding, well worth effort to get him. Highly recommended !!!
PS. After spending several more hours with him (Pet Battle Dungeons) I can only say once more - ABSOLUTELY awesome !!!
Im not sure what the obsession with commenting on how you got a rare, but wouldnt strategy and a pets usefulness be of more benefit.
As advised I killed off all diemetradon's with no hatchlings and got a few to spawn after a pass or two. First was poor and second was rare! I count myself lucky as there were 2 others looking for then when I went. I have to admit I was hoping it would be a bit bigger but it's still really nice. You don't see many being used in battles and to me that's a plus. :)
Got the 341 strength one to try out surprising opponents with Quick Attack. Claw is really powerful but being slow you would do well to slow your opponent with Screech. It looks cooler than it is powerful, but you can often surprise your opponent when using non popular pets and you will rarely face this one in PvP. Don't be afraid to try it out!
Just got my rare! After hours of looking I checked the comments here. The strategy that ultimatly worked was.Â
When you get there kill any diemetradon that donesnt have a hatchling. If one loads with a hatchling grab the hatchling and mark the diemtradon with a raid symbol leave it alone it will pop a new hatchling shortly keep flying around and finding more Diematrdons without hatchlings.Â
This strategy got me a rare in 20 minutes, only ended up finding 3.
i had the same questons earlier. It means power/power amd power/balanced.
Got it around my tenth spawn. Got a rare tree python and parrot in the process. There were plenty around and kept respawning.Â
Like everyone said mark the Elder Diemetradons with babies and kill all the others. I had no mothers at first then one showed up. On second pass I had two then three. On about the 12th pass I suddenly had about 9 mothers spawn. Took about an hour and a quarter to get my rare (P/B) although I may go back to see if I can get a P/P breed. Also got a rare spotted bell frog as a second.
Got an uncommon a while back and I came back today to try for a rare. Â Took about 20-25 mins of farming and I finally got a P/P rare at 38, 50. Â I saw many "mothers" and only killed or battled the babies. Â I only killed one "mother" due to aggro and all the hatchlings kept spawning after I defeated or killed them.Â
The same "mother" spawned a new hatchling about 5-10 mins after I got my rare.
Just got my rare after about 1 hour farming. When I got to Terron Run there were two "mothers" with hatchlings, both were poor quality... I marked the mothers with a raid icon and killed all the others that did not have hatchlings, that made new creatures respawn... at the end I had four mothers. This approach works to get Infested Bear Cub as well.
I managed to catch a common one on my fifth try, I think they look really cool and prehistoric; however I'm not going to even try to get another one that’s an uncommon or a rare after three and a half weeks without seeing anything save two poor quality Diemtradon Hatchings I just gave up. I'm just going to wait for a pet stone to raise the quality. The drop rates better!
Just got mine 10 min ago. Killed Elders on my way to the camp site at 38.57,65.74 (was expecting to camp there for a while) but he was standing there waiting on me when I got there. Not a rare but uncommon is good enough. :)
Omg..I just got a second one at the edge of Golakka Hot Springs. Wasn't even 15 min between them. It a common.
Finally! After many trips to Terror Run, got him at 620 pm Zangarmarsh time or 920 EDT at 27 58.5 aver the border in Golakka Hot Springs. He is a P/B, out of possible P/B, P/P or B/B and I am over the moon :) Thanks for posts, so I knew to kill all but the mom to make him spawn!
Caught him first try! was stoked by this. Found him in Terror run around the base of the trees.Â
I have tried the 'mother' method and it works. DO NOT KILL the ones with hatchlings, they will in fact keep spawning them. Mark them and kill off the non producers ; )
ps
Spitting on people who kill the mothers only confuses them
I killed off battlepets and critters while waiting for Hatchlings to spawn. Stopped killing Elders to see what would happen and got five Elders that spawned babies.
39, 66 by abandoned camp; 40, 65 and 40, 68 east of camp; 29, 73 SW wall of zone; and 35, 62 Galakka Hot Springs. Got my rare quickly after that since wasn't waiting for Elders to respawn, just did the rounds.
Lucked out and found a rare on the first attempt just west of Terror Run. Â Second two pets added to the battle were just common Ash Lizard and Long Tailed Mole. Â
Ironic that the pet journal states that the hatchlings are abandoned at birth, and yet they spawn with the older dimetradon mobs... Sense you no haz, blizz.
If you've got lots of players questing with diemetradons, camp on the round, flat rock at 31,68 just west of the broken campsite. There are 4 elders nearby that can be culled to each provide hatchlings, so rather than running all over the place you can confine your camping to one location and have fresh hatchlings every 5-10 minutes.
