The red colour variant is unique to this pet. The other colours can be found on other wild pets.
Some older posts here refer to this scorpion changing colours, but this was fixed in 5.1.
P/S Breed strongest(shared) scorpion around. B/B seems worse off. Pretty weak attacks in slot one, Snap hits for slightly above 300 and can still miss. Triple Snap can hit 3 times if you like taking chances. Crouch is a solid move, Screech is very situational since Scorpions don't have any abilities that benefit from speed. Sting can be nice. Rampage actually hurts, so time it with crouch and hope for beast racial to kick in. But feels like a second rate pet, a bit generic.
Mine is from Silthus, and is a level 18 named Poisonette. Good attacks, worth leveling, with it's poison attacks. Give it a Poison Coating spell, coat self with poison, deals damage when attacked, and a Explode attack, when killed, will explode, dealing 200 damage! XD! :)!
I just caught a blue quality, biege coloured Scorpid. It was the main pet that I clicked on to start the battle. I summoned him at least 20 times to see if he would ever change colour, he did not.
Noticed that when you battle the Scorpid, you often get a Black Rat as his second, and that creature is tameable, but not listed for this zone, perhaps because it is not found by itself but only as a sidekick?
For all of you who have a "skinchanger" scorpid:
Did it happen to be a "2nd" pet?
It seems that all joining battlepets with more than one skin can change into its other colors when summoned.
UPDATE:
The displayed skin of a skinchanger scorpid in the petjournal is beige. So if you caught a (for example) red scorpid and you have a beige one displayed in the journal, this most likely means you have a skinchanger. Summon it several times just in case. :)
Got a "blue" Level 17 one at Hellfire Peninsula- changes colour - summoned a few times and got all 4 alternate Skins. (Yellow skin took some time to appear).
Had a "green" before - that one DID NOT change colour. Seems that only the "blue" ones have the ability to change colour when summonend. Watched this with other pets too.
(sry, english is not my mothertongue ;))
This was a surprise. Each time you let it battle, it will turn a different color. I didn't notice it until it turned red, the color of scorpid that I was trying to capture in that battle. It seems to turn brown or black the most often for me so far.
Everytime I tame one of these, it turn beige. Really annoying since I want a red one.
I've noticed that scorpids also appears as a second when battling in Eastern Plaguelands.Â
