To spawn the rare creature that drops this pet, players must destroy all egg sacks in the area around the webbed NPC, Funguss. After defeating waves of spiders, the rare mob will appear.

COMPLETED THE EVENT TWICE AND BOTH TIMES THE ELITE SPIDER WAS SILVER...BUT NO LUCK SO FAR GETTING THE PET. PERHAPS IT TAKES A 24 HR. RESET FOR THE ELITE TO BE SILVER AGAIN OR MAYBE THEY FIXED THE BUG? After over 100 attempts I can confirm that you only get one chance at this pet or buy him on the AH. Bought him on the AH for 125K. Don't give up...well ater 100 tries I did get one...so the one chance thing is incorrect.
So how does one obtain this pet when the rare it drops from has been bugged since launch, you get one shot at getting it because once you kill the rare for the first time you are SOL after that. Any subsequent kills don't receive loot and the game treats it like you have already killed the rare that day (no silver portal around it's name-no loot)
