Halpa can be found in a small shop to the southeast along the main path that encircles the middle bluff. This pet is only sold to horde characters. Alliance characters may purchase this pet through a neutral auction house and on occasion through their own auction house.

The Brown Prairie Dog is a trainable pet in Mists of Pandaria. However, only Tauren are offered this option from Battle Pet Trainers. Once learned, all characters will have access to this pet.

I found this guy a little tuffer to level but as he matured he started to hold his own. Be patient with this guy he will come around.

As with a number of other purchasable pets, this is one that will present a variety of breeds at random. I would submit that, as he has no real "power" option available, make the most of his speedy breed - the 5,15 breed (which presents as 148 / 9 / 13 at level 1 uncommon) will provide 1400 health, 244 power and a respectable 341 speed at level 25 rare. The extra speed could let you choose crouch instead of adrenaline rush, upping your survivability.

A fun fact about the prairie dog. Back when WoW was still a new game, this pet would occationally run far, far away from it's owner and inevitably agro some sort of mob. It would then either run back or be killed, thus dropping the mob onto the pet's owner. I always fun this to be great fun and I was sad when they removed that aspect of the pet. Tanaris was oh so dangerous for prairie dogs; those hyeenas loved to kill them.

I only just bought this pet (the city vendors are sneakily well hidden) and haven't had the chance to bring him out yet. I just added the random pet macro though, so he'll get his share of the limelight :)

Despite being one of the easier pets to obtain, I found this one to be one of the cuter pets. The facial grooming is really adorable and fairly frequent, and I rarely see other Alliance players with a prairie dog out. I still commonly have people ask where to obtain it.

This pet just doesn't seem to fit as well as the other town pets fit. A Plainstrider or Baby Kodo might have been a better choice.

A complex system of burrows protects the prairie dog from its neighbors' massive hooves.
