Can be found on the Coldarra island in Borean Tundra.
Level 0: 0 0 0
The runts of Malygos brood, these whelplings are prized for their boundless arcane magics.
Too slow by far to use in PVP, and mana surge is a terrible ability for PVP as well. If you use arcane winds + mana surge, your opponent just needs to change the weather, and just like that, you're locked into doing a low damage ability for three rounds.Â
Pew/Pew!
You should have 3x Nexus Whelpling in your possession. The P/P breed hits as hard as anything and makes pet leveling very efficient. Use them. Love them. Give them catchy names. It's a Top 20 rated pet and is still wildly underrated. (currently 4.20, which is kinda funny, but too low.)
As of 12.31.16, for those that can't find them, it does seem to be a phasing issue. Couldn't find any over 12 hours until a friend from another server flew out to Coldarra and I grouped with him to realm hop.
Echoing what a lot of people are saying, but Nexus Whelpling is hands down one of the more potent steamrollers. S-Class material. Arcane Storm into Mana Surge just takes everyone to school. Granted, he's not amazing against literally *everything*, but he comes close. Great for leveling!
Best part is, they're in abundance. It shouldn't be too hard to find a good rare.
Easily a Tier 1 Battler. New Pet Battlers should make a bee line for this guy as soon as possible, likely your 2nd dragon after NFD. Fantastic for leveling your Lowbies. Use w/ a carry pet (5th lv+ because Cyclone) at Wyrmrest Temple, East of the Stable Master. Press 3 keys & nearly the entire team is vaped while you read, make sandwitch, wtvr. Carry pet makes an appearance, then Sexy Nexxy finishes the survivor. Occasionally, fly over for a heal. Very fast leveling for wild pet battling.
Hands down one of the best battle pets ever and currently. Still crushes almost everything in Legion and is therefore essential for my personal universal replacement for the gone howlbomb. The now op pve-team imo is 1 P/P Nexus Whelpling + 1 P/S Nexus Whelpling + 1 P/S Iron Starlette, although im still not sure if the second Whelp should be P/P aswell.
The split-up burst simply makes it so you break through the majority of teams with paying little attention to the mechanics, very chill and effective.
The P/P breed is my favorite. I have 3 of the P/P on my team.
I usually run with Tail Sweep, Mana Surge, and Arcane Storm.
I use two of these as a backline to level my frontline pet because they
can take out pretty much any wild AI battle (The built in Random Number Generator pet battles in the wild).
It servers wonders to complete the Taralune battle, and can solo three of the garrison daily's. The Beakinator ; Jahan, Samm, and Archimedes ; and Manos, Hanos, and Fatos.
This pet is an awesome hard hitter! One word of caution however is going up against an Anubisath Idol. For one, he will change the weather away from Arcane Storm and another... he will murder you with crush. Having a Arcane Eye added to the mix can mitigate and eventually remove the Idol from play. I really enjoy playing this pet... just 2 buttons and sit back and watch the other team scramble.
Special note... due to Arcane Winds he can't be interupted or stunned. :)
For the Daily Pet Battle with Jahan, Samm, and Archimedes, I noticed that the opponents first round was always Arcane Storm. Â Â
So, for you Nexus Whelpling, use Wild Magic to put another magic attack augment into play. Â Then just Mana Surge your way through all three, or play clean up with the last survivor if you are unlucky. Â For me, it killed all three so fast, I thought I had found a bug.
Awesome, awesome pet and one of my favorites by far! I didn't realize how powerful this little guy was until I finally tried him out as a serious pet team member. Arcane Storm followed by Mana Surge are such a deadly duo! If that isn't quite enough, Tail Swipe will put the nails into the coffin. One of the most powerful and consistent pets out there. All that, wrapped up in an adorable blue package of cuteness...I know it's going to be a great takedown when Blueberry enters the arena! :)
This is a must have pet for everyone. Its' combo of Arcane Storm and then Mana Surge is incredible. I have three different breeds. They can kill any flyer, and during the garrison mission quest; one Nexus can easily solo that fight. I bring two Nexus to the daily fights in Spires of Arak and Talador. For my third pet, I usually bring in a lower level critter pet in Talador, just to get the extra experience points. Flyers dont do well against critters.
Dominates the daily garrison mission with Samm, Jahan, and Archimedes.
One of my all-time favorite pets!
Nice anti-magic with a great model. Â Somehow, I got lucky and got a P/P rare on my first try after three times of checking the island while looking for an unborn val'kyr.
I run 2 of these P/S breed (and 1 level pet) and they tear through Taralune and Vesharr's pets in Draenor like they were made of butter. When going against flyers, the P/S of the whelpling usually takes over by the 2nd or 3rd turn and DESTROYS flying pets.
Started looking for one of these yesterday. Â Found plenty of spawns last night and this morning. Â Plus they would respawn normal enough, initially, Â but then they stopped respawning . Â Captured two uncommon. Â Will be going back to look for a rare, unless I get a stone.
Good Hunting
The P/P Nexus Whelpling is absolutely destructive in PvP. If your enemy doesn't have a Mechanical Pet, even after Mana Surge's damage was toned down, the Nexus Whelpling will put out an insane amount of pressure and (More often than not) kill something.
I get prepared to feel the hurt whenever I see this pet in an enemy team, and it's not too uncommon to see some people running three of these at once.
I was able to pick up three green spawns in a row, all in about 10 minutes, and it was just shortly after a patch.
I'm considering one of those, a P/P breed for PvP to combat all the Valkyrs people are using nowadays, I figuere Tail Sweep + Sear Magic + Wild Magic can really hurt them. Can anyone give me some info about Sear Magic? Does it remove everything, like Haunt, Blinding Poison, Curse of Doom ? And what happens to the Valkyr when you dispell Haunt?
