Patch 5.4.0 | Posted: September 10, 2013
The Skywisp Moth spawns on very high peaks that cannot be accessed via normal methods.
One way of getting to them is by attacking a Highwind Albatross once, which will then pick you up and proceed to fly around with you in tow. Attacking it a second time will cause the albatross to stop in its tracks and focus on attacking you. By timing and positioning the bird correctly, you should be able to defeat it in a prime spot to drop down onto the areas where the Skywisp Moth spawns.

This curious moth is sometimes found interrupting the spells of a wandering mage or warlock.
Took me 5 days of camping on 3 characters around Timeless Isle to finally find a Rare. Seriously, I was about to Scream.
Dont know if anyone else has found this but an easy way to get up to some is the golden crane statue that shoots you up into the air then floats you down. Used it to get onto the mountain in the southern part of the island with a bunch of moths on it.
This pet is identical to Dusty Sporewing, Crimsonwing Moth, and Cerulean Moth. All 4 pets have identical movesets and come in the same 3 breeds with identical stats. The only difference between them is cosmetic. You could have one of each as a different breed, but two will be the same breed. Even the fastest breeds are slow at 289 after the racial passive has worn off. Reckless Strike is nice especially if you can anticipate not getting hit on the next round.
I do got one of this bug.Â
Just confirming that you can indeed still get these guys off Ashwing groups (got mine near Bufo).
Have things changes since the new patch? Have been fighting the rat, no skywhisps have appeared as secondary. I have tried the glider version, but I am not able to use the glider when I dismount in air.
Three reasons I like having this pet on my team against beasts:
Beast abilities have diminished damage on Flying opponents
Skywisp Moth's mechanical ability "Call Lightening" is strong against Beasts
"Cocoon Strike" can block big attacks
Caught mine tonight near the sprites as a secondary to an ash wing moth poor but they are at ground level sorry no coords
I believe I caught a P/S breed today even though it isn't part of the breed calculator as an option. It's stats at level 23 (poor) are 1020 Health, 205 Power and 205 Speed.Â
I don't see that as any breed for a level 23 poor.Â
I have found that most of the high mountain tops have several Skywisp Moths flying around, waiting to be battled. At first this annoyed me, but when I realized I could find them as secondary's to the Ashwing Moths it made it a little easier to catch a rare. On the flip side, if you're on a mountain top you will most likely have all the moth's up there to yourself.
GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!! I first saw it as a secondary to an Ashwing and it was a rare but I didn't realize it had that lightning thing and it tore through my last pet which was a fox................................................. :(
You don't need to buy a kite or try to battle for a secondairy. When you are standing on the path to the celestial court, just look into the sky for a large albatros, wait until it's close enough, then shoot it once (need a ranged weapon for that). He will grab you and take you up into the sky. Keep shooting it until it's health is about 200, and when you are above a rock with moths, kill it. It will drop you on a rock, and you can battle.
I can confirm that these can be secondary to Ashwing Moths.
It's a lovely moth with unique skill set and model, nice to see some moth variation!
I have seen these as secondary pets to the Ashwing Moths. As high as uncommon but I'm holding out for a rare and leveling some pets as I look. I also got my rare Flamering Moth as a secondary to the Ashwings.
Either my luck is terrible, or attempting to "camp" these on top of the mountains is pointless. They respawn every 20 minutes and after over an hour of respawns, there were no battle pets at all. Just regular critters. I gave up and went down to battle the rat that was mentioned in an earlier comment. He respawns every 3-4 minutes and I saw two rare skywisp moths in about 6 hours. Others seem to have caught on to this as several people came along to compete for the fastest clicker!
The flying up and using the glider technique is wonderful! I found an uncommon by the red lake next to Rolo's treasure chest yesterday. I have the goblin glider (cloak tinker) as an engineer, but the golden gliders have no cooldown, so you can use them repeatedly, in case you miss your targeted landing.
The best way I found of getting up onto the cliffs was to buy a golden glider (5 charges) from thr vender at the celestial court (ku-Mo) swim/ run out to sea until my flying mount can fly again lift up as high as I needed turn around to the island, move forward dismount and use the glider. You can then glide to any part of the island with no problems !
Confirming that this moth can be found as an add for the rat mentioned below. I got it on the 2nd try. If it's not there kill the rat and wait for a fairly quick respawn to try again.
This moth also spawns as an add for Ashwing Moths.
Finally got an ungriefed Albatross up to the first natural tower where you see about 4 of these spawned. Cleared them but no rare. Caught an Uncommon and I am waiting to see how long the respawn is now that I am up here.
There is a way to get the Skywisp Moth without hitching a ride on an albatross. On the north side of the Celestial Court, near Cowardly Zue the Stable Master, there is a spawn point for a simple Rat. It is possible for a Skywisp Moth to show up as one of the rat's back up fighters when it's battled. Respawn rate on the rat seems fairly quick, but the chances of getting a moth to show up is not 100%. Still, depending on server, it may be easier than the albatross.
These are primary pets on top of cliffs. You can access them by hitching a ride on a Highwind Albatross. Go to the north shore of Mossgreen lake, hit a Highwind Albatross with a ranged move and stop autoattacking. It should pick you up and start carrying you. Once you're over a pillar with moths on it, start attacking, it will stop, and, after you kill it, drop you on the pillar.
The rare I found was level 23 after being captured, has 1371 hp, 254 attack, and 254 speed.
