An anubisath idol from the Temple of Ahn'qiraj, infused with ancient qiraji magic.
Fantastic for PVE content, very overrated for PVP. There are much better sandstorm options. Deflection is really only a useful ability if you KNOW when an opponent's big hit is coming. And if your opponent has two abilities that you can't let hit you, you're screwed. Really only works in PVP against good teams if you get lucky.
Several pets need similar treatment - unique on a team. This is one of them, Anomalus is another. Also add Toenibbler to that list. 3x of any of those is garbage to face.
I wasnt sure about him, until I got him and bring him in a battle. Damn, he saved my ass couple times. Not really fun to play, but effectivness is overwhelming.
Rare is the creature that can defeat a team of three of these sexy little guys. That's why my Wogen wrangles a litter of them at all times. I just rupture and sandstorm switch out & repeat, with a crush as needed. Most trainers & all world pets are toast. Some of the yellow paw creatures, dungeons & scenarios need specific pets or tactics but otherwise ...toast!
I can level 2 babies at a time to 25 with just "Larry" on my team. I named my boys Larry, Moe and Curly.
This pet is the highest ranked in this website. It deserves it. It destroys almost all outdoor encounters, can take almost all trainers and holds its own in almost all situations. It is strong, with good defense and versatility.
It helps catching pets, it can carry pets. Basically it can do most things at least as good as most other pets. Get it. You will love it.
This guy is probably one of the most boring battle pets in the game, it looks dull and it has boring animations.
That said it is THE pet to own for PVE pet battle content.
The combination of priority defensive move (shields up, red alert!) With sandstorm and the humanoid passive turns this guy into a supertank.
Leveled mine to 25. Isn't the best for catching, but is a beast in (most) pet battles
After taking around three years off from WoW I decided to return to collect battle pets and mounts. First run through of Ahn'Qiraj last night and I got him! I must say this thing is an absolute beast to use in fights!
I dont have much to add to what's already been said here, but i do want to stress how necessary this pet is, there is no reason why you shouldnt own at least 1 of these guys.
You hardly notice that this is a slow pet, because Deflection always goes first.
You can almost solo the Fire Pandaren Spirit with it, Crush the Dragonkin, Deflect the Spirit's Conflagrate, Crush and repeat to block Conflagrate, then cast Sandstorm to finish the Spirit off to dodge the Flying pet's Swarm ability.
When I got the Anubisath Idol drop, I thought eh, whatever the Mini Mindslayer is much cooler right?.... Not really, I trained Anubis (as I came to name it) and it is amazingly good at pet battling.
Had to wait and run AQ solo to get him, but got lucky and The Big Guy dropped on my first time through. Believe the hype. He's all that and a Bag of Chips. The Black Lotus/Timewalk of Battle Pets. Completely busted, probably should be nerfed to be honest. Go farm him up as soon as you're near Lv 90 or drop the gp on the AH if you can't be bothered. Truly an essential pet.
Anubisath Idol, or Billy as I fondly refer to him, is a must have pet for so many of the trainer battles. His survivability in some fights can vary but he always does his job!
The one thing that freaks me out is when I see him at that water and food bowls in the menagerie. It just seems so wrong. There should be a little camp kitchen for our humanoid pets.
My pet collection is my toolbox, and Idol is my hammer. He's not flashy. He doesn't have have game-breaking abilities. However, he gets the job done.
With high survivability and moderate damage, Idol fits perfectly in my capture teams and pet teams leveling teams. He can control a fight and can solo most wild teams if needed. Easily my most used pet. If you are just starting to collect, Idol is my #1 recommendation.
His moveset makes him viable in a lot of situation. Grand starter pet to beat pve content with. If you wanna start pet battling make sure to get this guy. He might even be on the AH for quite a good price.
I was happy to see him at the top of the list. He deserves to be there. Hands down most versital pet in game.
Very nice pet. Good against almost everything.
I didn't realize my luck until I read the comment. Got it on my first run today. :-)
Not to be confused with his much less useful cousin 'American Idol'.
Scored a lvl 1 on AH for 1,500. Pumped. They have been selling for 2800+
This pet can consistently carry not just one but TWO pets through trainers in Jadefire forest, Valley of the four winds, Kun Lai summit, Fire elemental in Townlong Steppe, and Vale. Some scenarios require a bit of luck on hits, others require your carry pets to be above level 10 so they survive rotating in but if you want to level pets against a pandaria trainer I know of no better . Judicious use of Deflection and Sandstorm are key to many fights. Every level 1 pet I have these days sees Corageous Yon through a sandstrom from this guy.
